As while experimenting the Windows 8 official release features, I just thought to share this with everyone that Windows 8 has the Mount option to make as a Virtual CD/DVD drive. In our earlier version of Windows we don’t see this option integrated rather we should be using our traditional 3rd party tools like MagicISO, ISOMaker etc using which we can mount the OS as a virtual drive. Steps to Mount Windows 8:
1) Navigate to Windows 8 ISO downloaded from the official Microsoft link, if not downloaded yet you can download (refer this article) as shown here.
2) Right click on the ISO and we can see the option as Mount, clicking on the Mount option will starting mounting the OS.
3) Clicking on Mount, you can see the Windows 8 OS mounted and we can see the Virtual CD/DVD drive that is created under the “Devices with Removable Storage” option as a DVD Drive which can be used readily as shown in the screen below.
If you want to remove this virtual drive simply right click on the drive and click on EJECT which will remove the drive which is to be mounted as shown in the screen below.
