In this tutorial we are going to see how to adjust the Zoom level while loading the application in the Windows Phone Emulator while testing. While developing the application and testing each and every feature over the virtual device (Emulator) we need to come across scenarios to test in maximum zoom level and get to know how it occupies the screen. We can change the size of the emulator directly in the host screen with simple steps. It will use the DPI (dots per inch) for the Windows Phone Emulator which is basically based on the monitor DPI which we use locally regardless of the Zoom level we specify. [more]
Let us see how we can achieve this task while we deploying the application to Windows Phone Emulator. Open Windows Phone application in Visual Studio 2012 IDE (lets take the application which we developed previously in our earlier articles) and build the application to see if it perfectly works as shown in the screen below.
Build and deploy the application to the Windows Phone emulator by selecting the emulator of your choice from the list of available emulators as shown in the screen below.
The app will be loaded to the emulator and in the right side of the emulator we can find the Emulator toolbar which can be used to adjust some of the basic settings for the Emulator. We can change the Zoom settings of the emulator here by clicking on the
button from the toolbar which will popup a window with the customization of the available zoom options as shown in the screen below.
We can change to the different zoom levels from the list of options to a maximum of 100%, once done with testing to get back to the normal zoom level which fits the screen we can use the option next to the zoom button in the Emulator tool box as shown in the screen below.
